In the mid-1990s, construction at Walt Disney Concert Hall had come to a halt. Estimated costs of the building had increased to $265 million, well above Lillian Disney’s initial donation of $50 million, which launched the project in 1987. At one point, Los Angeles County was close to pulling the plug on the civic project.. The Los Angeles Master Chorale will host its 35 th annual High School Choir Festival on May 3, 2024. We will celebrate the 35th anniversary of this long-standing arts education program in Walt Disney Concert Hall, connecting the communities of greater Los Angeles in a joyous performance of a 1,000-voice choir led by Grant Gershon, Kiki & David Gindler Artistic Director.
